When Cooper's Invited

I never quite realized
Until I had a baby
How much I missed my family
Do I sound a little crazy?

I didn't say I wanted to move
I didn't say I wanted to go
I am simply saying
How much I miss them so

Photos and FaceTime
Are how we stay in touch
And each time they see him they say,
Wow, he's grown so much!

My baby doesn't know
What fun awaits him soon
His family in Illinois
Loves him to the moon!

The holidays are coming
And I am so excited to see
Cooper give his gummy grin
And their faces fill with glee.

All his big cousins will love on him
His aunts and uncles too
What a lucky guy he is
To be part of this great crew.

Grandma Moe is usually
Busy in the kitchen
But she drops everything
When Cooper's name is mentioned.

When he gets a little bigger
He will ask if he can stay
At Grandma and Grandpa's
Because they really know how to play!

To the farm he will travel
To see horses, donkeys and cows
Cooper and Grandpa Mike
Just might become best pals!

No matter the distance
Large or small
There is plenty of fun
To be had by all

What started out as sad and blue
Has turned into excitement
What memories will be made
When Cooper is invited!

Tough Stuff of 2014

What a good time of year to sit and reflect over the past twelve months. My life is pretty normal – to me. But I really do believe that other people view it as…not quite so normal. Just in the past twelve months I have had three addresses, moved to a different state, sold a house, and bought a house. Luke and I strive to follow where God leads us and that isn’t always easy. Today I would like to share the toughest thing that happened in 2014. I do know that our biggest blessing piggybacks on my toughest situation. Isn’t that how it usually works? Hard. Tearful. Embarrassing. Mortifying actually. That is how I would sum up 2014’s toughest situation.   This is difficult for me to type and I know will be even more difficult to actually post, but I believe it’s all part of the healing process. Let’s just rip the Band-Aid off here – In April, I was told my contract at the school I was teaching at would not be renewed. Whew, glad that’s over. I’m swallowing my pride and there’s a bi...

KC Adventures

So I've decided that I'm not so good at blogging. I meant to do this at least a couple times a week...not once every two weeks. It's a very busy time in my life so I apologize! I'll try harder! I have decided to focus this blog post on more FUN things! It seems my past posts have been serious tear-jerkers and while I enjoy them...it's time for some fun! Luke and I (the dorks that we are) have created a short list of adventures we would like to embark on when we get to KC. My plan is to document all these adventures and share them with you. This list is just a few things we have found so far...I'm sure it will grow. And as I look over it...most of it seems centered around food and sports. Hrmmm...let's get started. Oh, by the way, these are in no particular order. 1. Kansas City Royals game. No, we are NOT going to disown the Cardinals! We will always be Cardinals fans. However, Royals games are CHEAP! They have BUCK nights and areas of the stadium that ar...

Apartment Pics!

I suppose I finally feel settled in enough to allow a few pictures to be shown. Things are getting in order around here. Our new furniture was delivered yesterday - which really helps it feel more like a home. Yes, I will tell you - this place is TINY! If we would have started out here, it would have been fine. But living in our previous home (with my huge kitchen) has spoiled us. The downfalls so far are: 4 flights of stairs DOWN to do laundry (which costs $2.50/load and is used by 4 apartments), 2 flights up carrying groceries and a small, small kitchen. However, this place is pretty darn cozy and decorating a new space is always fun! :) This picture was taken standing in the living room. That is the kitchen wall. Had to make up for hardly no cabinets with a couple purchases from IKEA (love it!)...the cart and the shelf on the wall. This is half of the kitchen. It does have a new stove/microwave. The cabinets and counter tops are new as well, there just isn't very much of the...
