I have a few things to share tonight. First off, today Luke and I got our Missouri driver's licenses and plates on our vehicles. It took nearly 5 hours to complete this process, we began at 12:30pm. If you have a few moments, I'll share our journey through that process with you! We first went to the DMV (it's not called a DMV here, but it's the same thing essentially!)...the lady told us what we needed so we set to work on that. We first had to go to the county court annex to get a personal property tax waiver. Instead of licensing fees, you pay personal property tax on your vehicles. Since we haven't lived here long, our fees were waived. We then travelled to Midas to get our safety inspections. However, you don't have to get a safety inspection unless your car is a 2005 or older. But, we still had to get paperwork completed in order to tell them we were exempt from the inspections (sheesh!). The Midas man told us it would be 1.5 hours to get to our cars. Seri...

Job hunting is never fun. Enough said. :) I just got home from my first job interview here in KC. And well, wasn't that interesting? I interviewed with a massage company...for (what I thought) a receptionist position. I got lost on the way there - but on a plus side I totally figured it out and got myself back on track (go me!). I had to drive literally through the city traffic to get there. I got off the interstate and proceed to, in my mind, the ghetto. It probably isn't though - I doubt I've ever been to a real ghetto. During the interview the lady tells me that we are in the ritzy part of town (uh, what?) and that customers will yell at me. Oh, and so will the therapists...I guess they think they run the place since they have a college degree. Um, I have a college degree. She also asked if I was familiar doing sales with a script. It appears that I have to call people and convince them to get a membership to this place. Okay....oh, and I make $8.50 an hour plus commis...

I would like to take this opportunity to share about the two favorite men in my life. Today is Father's Day. Tomorrow is my anniversary. From this, you can obviously guess that my two favorite men are my husband and my Dad. We will first start with my dad. Many of those who read this know him. Or at least I hope you do! If not, you are missing out. My dad is...in short...a kook. :) Kook is a term of endearment, coined by my college roommates. Only the best people are qualified as kooks. My dad is extremely hard-working, very dedicated to his family, church and job, and just an all-around great guy. He can always make me laugh and has always supported me in everything I've done. I know it was really difficult for him to accept our move to Kansas City. But I think he's doing okay...or at least it seems like he is! Hopefully this move will force him to venture out of Fayette County once in a while! (Please come see me!) Here's just a few memories I have of my Dad - he us...

I suppose I finally feel settled in enough to allow a few pictures to be shown. Things are getting in order around here. Our new furniture was delivered yesterday - which really helps it feel more like a home. Yes, I will tell you - this place is TINY! If we would have started out here, it would have been fine. But living in our previous home (with my huge kitchen) has spoiled us. The downfalls so far are: 4 flights of stairs DOWN to do laundry (which costs $2.50/load and is used by 4 apartments), 2 flights up carrying groceries and a small, small kitchen. However, this place is pretty darn cozy and decorating a new space is always fun! :) This picture was taken standing in the living room. That is the kitchen wall. Had to make up for hardly no cabinets with a couple purchases from IKEA (love it!)...the cart and the shelf on the wall. This is half of the kitchen. It does have a new stove/microwave. Well, here I sit...on an air mattress in the living room of our apartment. You see, we sold all of our living room furniture before we moved. Lucky for us, the new stuff comes tomorrow. To sum everything up, we made it! We're here!!! So here's the story... As you know, our trailer was quite fun and interesting. There was only one mishap on the way...usually with a gooseneck trailer, you can turn as sharp as you like. However, my dad's truck is a shortbed. We had to stop in St. Peters (my fault, I had to pee) and they turned a little sharp. Completely busted out the ENTIRE back window of Dad's truck and bent the cab frame. Oops. 45 minute delay cleaning out the glass from the truck and putting trash bags with tape to cover the gaping hole. Needless to say, the trash bags made the trip here! I believe they put some cardboard up for the ride home. I didn't get a picture of it...way to busy and I don't think Dad would have been too happy if I would have been takin...

Well friends, it's finally time. You know, before about a week ago it was all talk. This moving business was just words coming out of our mouths. But now, it's real. Luke and I are both officially unemployed with no job prospects in sight. Boy, that's encouraging! There's a trailer in the driveway that already has quite a few boxes in it, with much more stuff to come in the next few days. We are moving out of our house on Tuesday (GIANT TEAR!) and then heading to KC one week after that. We've been planning this move for nearly a year and now that it's here...it's so surreal. I can't picture my furniture anywhere but my current bedroom, I can't imagine having to climb two flights of stairs to reach my front door, and I don't even want to think about the fact that I'm sharing a wall with someone.
