For those who suffer...

Starting out my day with God is so important. I attempt to start every morning reading my Bible. It's hard to figure out what to read when you don't have some kind of guide. So I am going to share what I am reading and learning so that maybe others can follow along. I recently read Romans 8. I learned so much from it, that I backed up and started from the beginning of Romans. Here are a few things I have discovered in Romans 8. There are 3 verses in chapter 8 of Romans that really spoke to me. The first is Romans 8:5 "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit." (ESV) Okay, so this verse is pretty self-explanatory right? Those who live with fleshly desires have their mind set on the flesh, and those that live with the Spirit's desires have their minds set on the Spirit. Much easier to read than to live. Leaving Home

As our move to Kansas City approaches, I am forced to face the fact that I'm leaving Ramsey. I'm really leaving and I'm 99.99999999999999% sure I'll never live in this town again. I've been in Ramsey since the day I was brought home from the hospital. It has helped shape the last 24 years of my life, that's for sure. Although Ramsey has changed a lot from when I was a kid, I still love it...because it's home. Here's a few of my favorite things about Ramsey. First of all, the school...duh! Lord knows I spent many hours in that school. Just how many hours did I log in those hallways and classrooms? Well, 8 hours a day for 180 days a year. I went to school all 13 years there so that comes to...18,720 hours. That's just school hours. We're not including basketball practices & games, cheerleading practices & games, play practice, Student Council meetings, hanging out before/after school, dances and so on! I have probably logged a solid 25,00

New Addresses & For Sale Signs

So, how did we get to this point of new addresses and for sale signs? Well, it's been quite a long process. It all began about a year ago. We were in the car, driving home from visiting some friends (Pat & Mandi). Both of us were lost in thought...and it happened to be the same thought. I don't remember who brought it up first, but for some reason, we were both thinking about the fact that we needed to go to seminary. We had discussed it before, but not in length. In the car, we figured out that we needed to go to seminary...the where and the when came later.  In June, we went to World Changers in Michigan with the youth. There we met my favorite person, Pastor Mike. Pastor Mike sat both of us down (separately) and explained that we HAD to go to seminary (Fort Worth, Texas preferably). If we were going to do this, it needed to be now...no better time than the present, said Pastor Mike. The seed had been planted...and now watered just a tad. In August, we decided to go vi

Leap of Faith

After many months of prayer and quite an emotional morning, Luke and I have an announcement that we would like to share with our loved ones. First off, as many of you may know, Luke has been enrolled in online seminary classes through Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. For the past year or so, we have felt that God was calling Luke to continue his education through seminary. We decided that online classes would be the easiest way for us.  This is Luke’s second semester of online classes. Noticed that I said earlier that online classes were the easiest way for US to answer God’s call to seminary. However, sometimes the easiest way for US isn’t the way God wants us to answer His call. Through lots of prayer and consideration, we have decided to answer God’s call to full-time seminary training. We will be moving to Kansas City, Missouri so that Luke can pursue his Master’s Degree of Divinity with a concentration in Youth Ministry at Midwestern Baptist Theo
